Topic: back at it...maybe...
WELL! seems like another year has gone by and I have not done a blog entry. One of these days I'll get everything rolling and it'll all just flow...guess it already is...just too much goin' on. I've hooked up with a new group that is opening an alternative healing arts center here in Portland, Oregon area. We're marketing the Pacific Northwest from the Bay area (California) up to the Vancouver, BC area. Currently we're looking at a few really nice places to "commandeer". Also looking at a 150 ac. place in Hawaii to use as a retreat... Being with this group has been very enlightening. It all simply seems to be flowing. Preparing to film a workshop to put on DVD. Have been involved with a couple of the local independent cable network studios for this venture. I will try to keep you all posted on this workshop in case you want to attend. The savings on the investment for your own personal growth is about 60% or more; a real bargain. The workshop that we're doing will be using my book, "Always Dancing in the Gold!" as the base. Tentatively, we're looking at April/May... I've been toying with the idea of doing one sooner. However, if you want to be on the video, you may want to wait. I would also like to tell you about this upcoming event this Thursday, 10 March 2005. It's a New Moon celebration of doing meditation along with singing bowls. I will be the guest presenter at this event. I'll be promoting my book (of course), the upcoming workshop (that will be filmed), and the style in which the book is written, which is also my teaching style. To me, the best way to teach playing with energy is through experience. So my style for these is very experiencial; I especially help you to FEEL energy. This Thursday evening get together is at 7:30 pm, located at: 8725 NE Broadway St, Portland, Oregon. Hope to see you there. Please try to RSVP me if at all possible at: 503-413-0783 or at psychichealerberry@yahoo.com If an RSVP is not possible, just show up...we won't turn anyone away. The plan is to have a relaxing, healing evening. 'til next time, Berry

So now when I get it together a bit more and caught up on the finances on which I was behind, I hope to be gettting to the blog a little more frequently...hopefully at least once a week...then we'll get back into more of the training in the active meditation and process-work...the book is finished in manuscript form...I'm still looking for a publisher...anyone knowing of a good publishing company which works with the metaphysical/spiritual field of publishing, please email me at: psychichealerberry@lycos.com or psychichealerberry@yahoo.com This would be very appreciated...thanx much... So now, 'til next time (& I'm not certain when that might be... hope to hear from anyone soon... Berry

Topic: More on Growth periods
So it's been a pretty loong time since I last added an entry to this Blog...but I tell you, it's been a Growth Period from Hell...teeheehee...talk about down...I'd been down and blue, and depressed for about 7 days. Been trying to get in touch with the cause for this. The closest thing that I have been able to come up with is that I had been practicing Tong Len for a couple weeks and transmuting the pain and suffering of the AIDS community into love and compassion...seems as if somewhere along the path, I got a little "stuck" to say the least...I'd get up in the am and look into the mirror and see no signs of life in me...just grey, no life force color in me at all...I even had friends tell me that I looked like I was dying...all they saw was grey, also, no life force coloring in me...quite an interesting undertaking...Tong Len is a very powerful practice and I'm finding is not to be practiced by those easily depressed; heed those words from the Dalai Lama...it is a technique to be used by advanced practisioners...so for my latest growth period, I took on the life of an HIV+ person, this truly was what it was like: I had the most intense migraine that I have ever experienced, I ran a fever of 102+ degrees F for 5 days, my gums ached, my throat was sore, my body ached...and my lover was freaked out. He couldn't figure out what was wrong with me. He took it personally, thinking that I didn't love him anymore...OMG! How weak can one get and still go on...well yesterday, I made an about face...I stopped at the nutrition center and picked up some natural antibiotics (Echanacea/Goldenseal Combo) and this morning he couldn't keep up with me...guess I should share with him...so that'ss the addition that I have about growth periods...they are always about something going on inside of us...seldom are they anything about something outside of us...what am I going through inside of myself...that's what growth periods are about...what's going on inside myself....

Topic: Growth Periods...
I figure because I am in a "Growth Period from Hell", I'll do todays entry on growth periods (of course, I'll take it from my book which you can find on my website at: http://home.comcast.net/~psychichealerberry/index.htm Have you heard the term "growth period"? What is a growth period? What do people mean when they use the term growth period? (e.g. "Oh, it's not a big deal, it's just a growth period".) And how many growth periods do you have? So what do we mean when we use that term, "growth period"? First, before we get into discussing the term "growth period", maybe we should discuss another term: "working your process" or "process work". What does it mean when someone says they are working their process? What is this process? The term process work was coined, to the best of my knowledge, by the different 12-step programs: AA, NA, CoDA, SA, SAA, etc. Basically what is meant by using the term "process" is, in its simplicity, just that. You are processing or working through your self growth issues more consciously than someone usually does. You are "digging" through your life issues to assist you to better understand yourself, the meaning of your life, and the meaning of life in general. As you are doing this, the interesting thing is that on an energy level or on a spiritual level, you become more at one with yourself. You as spirit and you as body come closer to each other. You begin to reach at-one-ment; in some circles this is called atonement. However, this possibly is not the idea that has been conveyed over the ages. Now, back to the idea of a "growth period". Basically, a growth period is the feelings that you have when you're physically "catching-up" to the mental, emotional, and spiritual changes that you've made. It's the feeling that you have just before you release or move through a seemingly over-abundance of blocks. Occasionally, when in a growth period, you may begin to feel like "you are stuck". This feeling can be caused by a few different things: ideals/expectations, self-judgement (unforgiveness), resistance/effort, etc; all of these, self limiting thoughts. Basically, because of these, it's just simply, not letting go. You're hanging-on to the block that you are wanting to release or move through. As you go through working your process, what you do is "release" the programming, blocks, obstructions that are not your own information. These blocks are other people's thoughts about something or someone; their ideas, beliefs, ideals, etc. (These other people might be parents, teachers, preachers, babysitters, doctors, employers; another way to describe this is any other person who you have perceived as an authority figure.) So you see, this other information is what you learned to be truth from someone else. Another way to put this is that you learned someone else's truth. Does this mean that it is true for you? Possibly so, but it might just as well be, possibly not. Additionally, become aware of how and why was their information "taken on", accepted as truth, by you. Did you receive their information because you thought they knew more than or better than you, or were you forced to think, believe, understand, or act as they said and did? It's hard to believe that a person can be so aggressive in this way, as to make someone, a little child, think or act in a specific way. But as one of my counselors in the past told me, and I quote, "...sometimes parents do some pretty dorky things." As you go through the steps of releasing these blocks that are keeping you from receiving and understanding your own information, there is sometimes a lag between the time that you release the block and the time that you level out and are in understanding with what is your own information about an issue, concept. This time between those two points is known as a "growth period". You may experience this lag time in many different ways. First, the amount of time that it takes to level out varies. Sometimes it is immediate. And at other times it may take a couple of days. At times you may feel tired, so you will sleep more than usual. You may feel manic and not sleep as much. You may feel depressed and eat more than usual or not eat as much as usual. Or maybe you may watch television unceasingly when you may not be a television watcher at all. Or if you are a movie-goer, you may stop going to movies. Or maybe you might become obsessed with specific kinds of thoughts, possibly a kind of thought that you may never have entertained before at all. At any rate, become aware of changes in your thoughts and behaviors. These differences can be beneficial in helping you to understand when you are in a growth period. When noticing differences, by all means, validate yourself. You have begun your self-growth process to make changes in your life, in yourself. And a growth period is an awareness to you that you are making change. So validate yourself while in a growth period, because you love yourself enough to make these changes. So, how do you get out of a growth period? Well, let's first start by looking at how you get into growth periods. How do you get into growth periods? Quite simply by wanting to make a change; by wanting to find your own truth. So far in this manual, what is it that you are learning? You are learning to work your process by using a specific technique. And what is that technique? Running energy, right? And what is entailed in the process of running energy? Ground...center of head...earth energy...cosmic energy...back channels...front channels...leg channels...arm channels...running energy front to back through the chakras...protection roses...blowing roses, right, on and on? And what does that technique, blowing roses, do? Or what kind of technique is it? It is a release technique, right? So here you have the idea that was brought to your attention in the previous paragraph: release. Remember? A growth period is the "lag-time" between the release and the balancing out, or the understanding of your own information, your own truth. So you get into a growth period by running your energy. Now, how do you get out of a growth period? It stands to reason that if running energy is a technique that you use to release, and if you are in a growth period, which sometimes we want to get out of or better yet to get through the growth...if you want to release that feeling that sometimes accompanies a growth period, what do you do? You run energy, right? You run your energy to release. So, running energy gets you into a growth period. And running energy gets you out of or through a growth period. So, it all comes back to running energy. To get out of a growth period, run your energy more than you usually do. Run your energy! (As an added note about running your energy, add a few extra minutes each day so that by the time you finish going through this manual you will be running your energy about an hour each day.) Another way to assist getting through a growth period is to visit a psychic healer or reader. Make an appointment with them and ask them for assistance with your growth period. They will be happy to assist you. At that point, they might possibly give you a new or different perspective on your process, possibly one that had not occurred to you. It's always nice to get a new perspective or fresh idea on life. Or maybe you are someone who enjoys getting a massage. Getting a massage is a relaxing addition to working through growth periods. Sometimes while in a growth period we may fell stressed-out. When you feel the stress, try a massage. Or if you have ever used breath-work in your personal growth, another tool to assist you through a growth period is a Rebirthing. Make an appointment with a qualified Rebirther. They will guide you with their intuitive skills, assisting you to breathe through the blocks that you are clinging to, that you are in resistance to releasing. These are different techniques that can assist you in your own personal process work. My hope: that you will experience one or two of them. Now let's consider a couple of emotional flows of energy and how they (your emotions, or emotional state) can assist you to move through your growth periods. When you are aware of your emotions or feelings, how do you feel? Say for example, when you are depressed, how does your energy flow feel? Is your energy running smoothly and quickly through your energy channels? Does it feel static? Sluggish? Just how does it feel to you? And how about when you are joyful? How does it feel to you? Is your energy static, sluggish, smooth, or rapidly flowing through your energy channels? And how about when you are amused about something? When you are feeling amusement? Or if you are enthusiastic about doing something? When you are feeling enthusiasm, how does your energy flow through your energy channels? Let's consider the word emotion. Let's break it down. E - motion: Energy in Motion. So here I am saying that an emotion is energy in motion. What I mean by this is that when you are aware of emotion(s), also be aware that with each emotion, there is energy in motion. So be aware of the "motion" or flow of your energy. Consider which emotions help you to move through your blocks or growth periods more readily. Let's do a short exercise. Guided Exercise: Sitting in an upright position...ground...center of head...protection roses...earth energy...leg channels...cosmic energy...back channels...front channels...arm channels...front to back through your chakras...when you are ready to move on, give me a little wave... ...OK, recall a time when you wish that things were going a little differently...how does that feel...how does your energy feel as its running through your energy channels...just feel it... ...OK, now recall your favorite joke...you may chuckle or laugh a little...feel the laughter...how does it feel as your energy is running through your energy system...feel it ...OK, now when you're ready, slowly and gently open your eyes. Discussion: How was that? How did that feel? Was there a difference between the two? What was the difference? Did one of them feel harder to move through you energy channels? One easier? Which was which? And what does this tell you about your emotions and feelings when it comes to moving energy, moving through blocks, and moving through growth periods? That's right. Energy flow is different with different emotions. The one thing I would like you to grasp from this exercise is that when your energy is flowing more smoothly, quickly, harmoniously, you will move through blocks and growth periods more easily.

Topic: The week
WOW! What a week it's been. Went to work for OSPIRG this past Monday for a little extra cash 'til I build a bigger clientele, book starts selling, etc...GREAT Issue that we're working on: Reduce Mercury Pollution! The damn "Shrub" is trying to declassify Mercury to a non-toxic chemical. Is this man really as stupid as the facade he wears? When the EPA or CDC come out with stats, I listen. And they're saying (depending on who's stats you read) either 1 in 6 (EPA) or 1 in 12 (CDC) women of child-bearing age have an unsafe level of mercury in their system. Now, how I see this working is NOT good because when they give birth to our new, up coming stars of our globe, 630,000 babies each year, are being born with unsafe levels of mercury. Needless to say, mercury is a bio-collective neurotoxin, meaning that it is cumulative and our bodies can't shed it without a lot of "work". As you can see, mom's are passing this on to their newborns. Well, look. How many months are you with mom? And from where do the cells with which you start to grow your own body come? Well of course...MOM. WAKE-UP, SHRUB! THE COFFEE'S BURNING! And he wants to reclassify mercury as non-toxic...look at the studies and research: links to autism, alzheimers, I've even heard that they're starting to possibley find a correlation with strokes Of course, all I have to say about this is: Have the safest time ever = No BUSH, NO DICK!! (LOL). So I hope anybody that's reading this has started to play with the tools that have been outlined in this blog. Ground...Center...I'm going to have to sit back and relax for awhile and decide what to cover next. I s'pose I could cover the whole book on the blog. But then noone would have to buy it. And I am wanting to get a little cash for my time and effort putting all of the tools and techniques together into a book. Anyway, give me a moment or three and I'll come back with something really awesome! Just Chillin' after a great day of canvassing, Berry

Entry for Sat 10 July 2004

Now Playing: Lake Wobegon
Topic: Basics
Sat 10 July 04 Not really too sure what to write about today so will just go for the basics. When it comes to being a healer, there are a couple things that I find as basics that I have to do before I get started. These are grounding and centering. If you stop to think about it, the human energy body has an electrical charge. Maybe this is why they are commonly called "light bodies". Considering electricity, recall elementary school science class and the discussion of electricity. What is the one thing that you have to do to get electricity to flow and especially to flow how and where you want it. That's right, ground it. So in the same way to get your electrical, energy body to flow to use the source as a healing flow, you need to ground. There are many techniques that different people use to ground. My advice is that you play around with different techniques to see which works best for you. When I teach grounding I start by saying, be aware to a connection to the center of the Earth. Then later I will use a guided exercise such as the following: (taken from my book: "Always Dancing in the Gold!" Copyright 18 August 2003) "...Guided Exercise: Gently close your eyes...take a couple deep breaths to help you release stress...relax into your exhale...now, for ladies, imagine from the mid-point between your ovaries down; and for men, from the mid-point of your prostate gland down to the center of the earth...down through the chair...down through the floor...down through the foundation of the building...through the layers of the earth...right down through all the layers of the earth...down to the center of the earth...we'll call this a grounding cord...now just sit with this for a bit and feel the connection...(after a longer pause) now, if you're having trouble with the grounding cord staying down to the center of the earth, maybe imagine a huge boulder there and wrap your grounding cord around it...now just sit with this for awhile and feel the connection...play around with your grounding cord...make it larger...make it smaller...larger still...and at the end, before you open your eyes, put it however you are comfortable with it...so now begin to play with your grounding cord...and when you are ready, slowly and gently open your eyes..."I would recommend doing this exercise several times...and don't just read it...experience it. Now why would you s'pose we have you ground from these areas? Be aware of your body. Check it out, side to side and front to back where is the central spot in your lower torso? That's right, for men, the center point of the prostate; for women, the center point between the ovaries. So we work from these points because of the centeredness of them. These points are also physical points that we are aware of within us. If I were to say in a guided exercise, "...from the center point, side to side and front to back of your lower torso..." would it be easier for you to understand than by naming physical glandular points? Probably not. So this is done for ease and specificity of the centrally located area or point. The second tool that I check for myself before I begin any healing work with a client is "point of focus". Again for this I will copy exercises from my book, "Always Dancing in the Gold!"... "...Guided Exercise:
Gently close your eyes...and just relax...maybe take a couple deep breaths...relax into the exhale...be aware of your right foot...be aware of you left foot...be aware of your left knee...be aware of your right knee...be aware of your stomach...be aware of your low back...be aware of your right shoulder blade...be aware of your left shoulder blade...be aware of your chest...be aware of your chin...be aware of the top of your head...be aware of a point about 16 to 18 inches above your head...be aware of the tip of your nose...now bring your awareness back to where we are...now take your time and when you're ready, slowly & gently open your eyes...
How did that feel? What was that like for you? Where were you the most comfortable? The least comfortable? There is a reason for this exercise. What might you suppose that reason is?
We work with you initially to assist you to see where you are the most comfortable. This gives you an idea of where you as Spirit spend most of your time in relationship with you as body. Where you were the most comfortable is where you as Spirit spend most of your time in relationship to you as body.
To assist you in coming into coincidence (you, Spirit coinciding with you, body) you will learn to work with two different techniques: grounding and centering.
Point of Focus
We'll start with your point of focus because in the previous guided meditation your awareness (point of focus) was brought to different areas within/on or around you. What this technique does is assists you in learning about your space, your very own space.
What you will need to do first is pick a point out in front of you. It can be a spot on the wall, a door knob, the tip (corner, top) of an object, the tip of a leaf on a plant, a candle's flame or its wick if unlit, etc...Have you chosen your "spot"?...
Guided Exercise:
OK, let's begin...look at the point...just look at your chosen spot...look at it for about a half minute or so...now, as you are looking at this spot, I want you to become aware of your energy...where is your energy? Is your energy out or over there on, at, or near the spot? Or is it over here near you? Or is it over near someone or something else in the room? Just where is your energy?
Discussion:
Now, take time to discuss it, time for everyone to express their experience. What is everyone's awareness of their energy? What did each of you notice? Where did each of you notice your energy was?
Now let's do the exercise again. I again will guide you, only this time we will add a few differences. Just follow along and when finished, we will discuss this exercise.
Guided Exercise:
Slowly, gently close your eyes...take a couple deep breaths to help you relax...now imagine that you are in a room...off in a corner of the room there are a few maintenance items including a ladder...in the center of the room, in the ceiling, there is a trap door leading up to another room...get the ladder and place it up through the trap door...now climb the ladder up to the room above...look around this room...be aware that this room is your room...so decorate it any way that you like...make it as large or small as you like...decorate it however you want...maybe a big picture TV...or a big picture window...over stuffed furniture...a big sound system...an oriental motif...or maybe `50's motif...whatever you want...this is your room, so decorate it however you want...and above all remember that this is your room, your safe place to be...your safe place to come whenever you want...decorate this room however you want so that you will be comfortable here...you may decorate it one way one time you come here and another way another time...that's OK...do it however you like, whenever you are here...now take a few minutes with this and when you are ready, bring your awareness back to this physical room that we are in...that you are sitting in here with me and slowly, gently open your eyes..."
Now, just like the grounding exercise, I would recommend that you play with these exercises until you are very comfortable with them... Now because I'm in a low energy flow, I'm going to leave you with this for now....not sure when my next entry will be...'til then...remember to BE: "Always Dancing in the Gold!" Berry

Topic: Healer's viewpoint
In this weblog (my first) I am planning to discuss life issues with you, how I perceive them really "working" for you (actually how you are "working" through your life lessons) and possibly, some assitance to moving blocks with which you are sabotaging your lives. Also at times I will probably give tools and techniques that are available in courses and workshops that I facilitate. Also, these tools and techniques are available in my first ebook which is on my website currently set up on my ISP, Comcast (URL is given later in today's entry). So, send me ideas, feedback, questions, etc. But first, I'd like to start by introducing myself...my name is Berry...I am a Healer from Portland, Oregon, USA...I've been playing around with energy for nearly 30 years. Like a lot of people who are energy or light workers, I started with an interest in meditation. I started by reading books on the subject and by asking many people who meditated, how to do this thing that they were practicing. I started doing all of this back in 1975. Later, still having many unanswered questions popping up in my mind, I was initiated into Transcendental Meditation with the TM program. At that time in my life, they were the big name for me in meditation. I found the initiation ceremony to be very aesthetically beautiful and heart warming with the static of all of the unanswered questions squelched. Five years later, Fall of 1980, I began a two year study with Lama Bersaas, a Buddhist priest. While studying with him, the most important emphasis to me was the many breath techniques that he taught. At that time, the most important to me was the combination of Pranayama and Kevali Kumbhaka. The "sinking into" Kumbhaka was exhilarating, destressing and rejuvenating. Thank you Lama Bersaas for you knowledge imparted to me. Leaving "college-life" (Portland Community College & Portland State University) in 1985, I found myself wandering and wondering what life was all about. And in 1986, I began an in-depth study of a different style of process work using meditation, aura healing, clairvoyant reading, Sattvhic healing, Rebirthing (more breathwork, yes, a definite yes!), Vivation, Reiki, Emotional Body Healing (TM), Men's Healing Issues, Sexual Disfunction Issues, etc at various alternative healing arts centers and university campuses. Now, I know that there are those of you who think that we need to have letters after our names to be or know something, so I will let you know, yes I do have initials that I can put after my name. However, the question that has often come up for me personally is this: "How does one put a degree on working with Spirit or Energy?" If you need to know, I have 3 masters degrees (Metaphysical Sciences, Divinity, and from the Dzogchen lineage of Tiebtan Buddhism Healing Master) and an Education Specialist. But they mean nothing to me. The act of connecting with Spirit is what is the most powerful of all. Reaching that "at-onement" is what really is the major experience for all of us to reach. Within this all encompassing point of connection is where we truly become one with not only ourSelves but also with all else. Sometimes for me when I am experiencing this "at-onement" (samadhi nirvana, bliss), the walls disappear. What I mean here is that I see them as a vibration and can see through them...I no longer see them as the slower moving particles of energy of which they are. Ya know, I really don't know how to explain it so that eveyone of you can understand it, except if this is or has been an occurrence for you also. At other times when I reach this state, I see this bright light shining through me top to bottom or bottom to top, straight through the center of me; out the top of my head and out the bottom of me. My perception of this is the same energy channel that is the central channel of the Kundalini energy channels: Sushumna Why do I bring this up? Maybe only to give you an idea of what it may be like to be gifted with this ability to "see" energy or to "see" other dimensions. What I enjoy doing mostly with this gift is to assist others in their process-work, or to do healing work for people on different dis-eases. And in that process of working with others, what I enjoy the most is to assist them in a re-learning process of finding that "at-onement" for themselves, again. To assist others in their own Self-Empowerment from a heart-centered point of view is truly amazing when they come to you and express miraculous healings that have been varified by medical science. This is truly amazing to see how they have taken that awareness to such a Self-Loving depth! So to get on to my viewpoint. By this, I'm talking about my view on life, my life, your life. Especially when it comes to creating our needs and desires. Or even when it comes to creating "things" in our lives that we don't want to belive that we create. Of course the usual cry from someone when it's not going the way that they want is, "He did it." "I didn't have anything to do with it." "I'm the victim, here. He did it to me." Etc, etc...I could go on forever...we are living in such a victim oriented society. From day one, we are taught that we haven't the power to do anything. We hear mommy say daddy did this to her (got her pregnant); later, that we're too little to know what's best for us; still later, that the teachers know what is best for us to learn; later that we need to believe certain things or certain ways; and on and on. A very victim oriented society. So unlearning that we are powerless and discreating the blocks with which we sabotage ourselves is the basis for classes in which you learn to use these healing tools, and techniques. Currently, there is a text in manuscript form which I have authored on my website that I and other teachers who work with these tools and techniques use as the guideline for classes. You may be interested in downloading this ebook. I have spent about 12-15 years on it, taking notes in several classes, workshops, personal and group counseling sessions in which I have either participated or that I have facilitated. Granted, it being in manuscript format, there are no graphics, charts, illustrations, photos or numbers on the pages (so don't drop it after you get it downloaded...LOL...put it in a notebook or folder of some sort so your pages don't get mixed). Currently my website is located on my ISP: Comcast. http://home.comcast.net/~psychichealerberry/index.htm So what are these blocks with which you create "negative" results? When you get right down to it, these blocks are "faulty" ways of interpreting your life issues. They are more often or not, interpretations of given situations that you have made from a survival state of mind. Needless to say, because you have learned to move through much of your survival issues, you need to learn to "reframe", this belief and fill this space with the healing energy mentioned earlier. So when I assist you, a client or student in your healing process, these "mis-interpretations" are what I guide you to "reach" or of what to become aware. Prior to becoming aware of these blocks, you are given release tools and techniques to use to release the energy around them. Then you are coached to replace these "lies" that you have discovered either with a specific quality of healing energy or to use a technique used in psychology called Cognitive Restructuring. Well...I am running into a new day...need rest...going to bed for now...I will try to do an entry into my weblog at least once per week or so...next, I will probably get into tools or techniques...'til then...enjoy life and remember to BE: "Always Dancing in the Gold!"
